Dr Phillip Crisp, Co-Founder
Dr Phillip Crisp is the expert behind the risk assessment approach and the safety information in the system. He has over 40 years' experience in chemical laboratories and has been teaching laboratory safety for more than 25 years. Phillip:
- wrote most appendices of "Chemical Safety in Schools" package for NSW Department of School Education, including "Appendix D".
- trained more than 3,000 people in safety courses at schools and universities over 15 years
- 40 years' experience in University chemical laboratories.
- OHS Coordinator, Faculty of Engineering, University of New South Wales for 3 years.
He has consulted with many teachers and science technicians to help produce a risk-assessment tool that is customised to school science experiments and complies with current legal requirements.
James Crisp, Co-Founder
James Crisp is the technical lead and developer of the RiskAssess software. James started programming when he was in primary school and released commercial software by the end of high school. He was awarded the University Medal for Computer Science at UTS, and has developed commercial software and offered IT consultancy services for over 20 years.
Mia Sharma, Teacher Consultant
Mia Sharma has been teaching and tutoring for 19 years. She has been working with the RiskAssess team for 11 years to develop and trial software that is simple and easy to use for teachers and lab technicians. She has also helped Phillip Crisp run Safety in Schools courses. Mia was the recipient of the 2010 NSW Scientist of the Year Award for Leadership in Teaching. She was formerly Head of Science at the International Grammar School and has worked as a science teacher at a number of schools.
Eva Crisp, Editor and Data Manager
Eva Crisp has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and looks after the biological and equipment databases plus the documentation in RiskAssess. She is the biological specialist in the team. She has over 10 years experience in biomedical and scientific research. She has also worked in Technical Colleges, University laboratories, hospitals, the public service and publishing organisations. She is a Co-Presenter for RiskAssess presentations at conferences in Australia, New Zealand and Canada and also assists Phillip Crisp in preparation and delivery of safety courses to school staff.
Penny Morse, Subscription Manager
Penny is a librarian with over 40 years experience in NSW government, CSIRO, university, medical, legal, and public libraries. She has extensive knowledge of online and digital research resources, subscription management and online training, with a strong customer service focus.
Dr Victoria Lyons, Support Manager
Victoria has worked as a high school lab tech using RiskAssess and has a science background with a PhD in Molecular Biology. She will be answering questions via email and providing support to RiskAssess users.
